HMAS Melbourne flanked by Destroyers Voyager and Vendetta in 1959A phenomenal report from Australia was submitted to MUFON on Sept. 4, 2009. It was titled
He apparently ran out of characters in the title line.
He wrote that his brother survived the sinking of the HMAS Voyager (above) in 1964. He wrote "i was on leave from the air force that fatefull day."
While on maneuvers, the Voyager meant to cross from the right side to the left side of the aircraft carrier Melbourne. The Voyager intended to do this just after the Melbourne had past ahead. But the Voyager passed directly in front of the Melbourne, and was 'T-boned'. The Voyager was first pushed on its side, then cut in half by the aircraft carrier. The front half of the destroyer, with the heavier guns, sank immediately. The back half remained on the surface long enough for many men to be rescued. There were 82 victims of the calamity.
In 1985 the Melbourne was sold to China. "The ship was not scrapped immediately; instead she was studied by Chinese naval architects and engineers as part of the nation's top-secret carrier development program. Reports circulated that Melbourne’s flight deck was either removed from the carrier or reproduced, and used for the equally secret training of People's Liberation Army Navy pilots in carrier flight operations. The carrier was not dismantled for many years; according to some rumours she was not completely broken up until 2002." From Wikipedia
Back to the Australian's long and jumbled report (bold text is my addition):

Should I assume that in 1964, Australia's naval technology was on par with Great Britain's?

"when i was about 12yrs old i was in the boy scouts my dad was the scout master, one night my dog was barking like i had never heard before, my dad came into my room and got hold of my scouts wooden staff i had behind my door and went out side as he thought there was an intruder in our yard. next thing was my dad calling me outside i went outside it was about 1am in the morning and a still clear night. my dog had its paws on the front gate barking at the sky my dad said look graeme a ufo, there was a large yellow glowing disc hovering over our home, slowly it moved away to the east and dissapeared. my dad told me not to say anything as people would think i was mad."
"in 1964 i was working . . . we had to go to the next building .as we went out side i noticed something in the sky the sun was reflecting off it, it was a large cigar ufo, I called the men in the workshop out and aprox 30 men saw this craft. this craft was motionless in the sky, we watched for aprox 5min and then one end raised about 15 deg and it sped off at a huge speed from the size in the sky about a meter to a speck in a micro second. everyons jaw dropped. this was the first cigar ufo that i have wittnessed but not the last."
"In 1969 i had built a new home south of Sydney, over looking the ocean. as i was putting the milk bottles out that night i wittnessed a cigar ufo very low and close to where i lived i called my wife out and she also saw it. only about 200ft above the sea travelling north towards sydney at only 40mph (aprox) no noise."
"from 1969 to 1971 i wittnessed dozens and dozens of orange glowing discs all travelling the same way and on certain nights they would land at a remote spot in a bassalt quarry."
"when i first started to wittness these events i would phone the naval base I was told on one occassion yes we have them on the radar but what can we do."
"on one occassion there was seven discs three landed and the others hovered above them. With the naked eye they glowed yellow to orange but through bonoculars it became a heat spectrum the faster the disc moved the hotter the heat spectrum (towards the blue end) when they hovered the glow would go out."
Concerning the title of this man's report {assuming again 1969 to 1971}:
"three yrs running i wittnessed a huge mother ship probably 10 to 15 miles to the east of me {the same "new home south of Sydney, over looking the ocean" ?} over the sea, this craft always came in the same month september. these discs i have mentioned aprox 70 ft in dia would come out of the top of this mother craft, about three quarters along from the front. I counted at least 80 discs come out of her and travel in file to land where they hovered above homes when a area was done they moved to another and so on. I could tell more if you are interested."

1961-11-21 At night, six to eight crescent-shaped objects were seen entering an isolated cloud over Adelaide Hills, South Australia around 6:15 p.m. They didn't re-emerge. (Source: Michael Hervey, UFOs over the Southern Hemisphere, p. 171).
1962-6-25 Kurrajong, New South Wales, Australia A glowing red object of great size and speed was seen flying overhead. (Source: Michael Hervey, UFOs over the Southern Hemisphere, p. 87).
1964 "Mr. B . . . onboard a fishing boat out on North Reef 15 miles from Gladstone.
He was in his early twenties it was during "Operation Handover" a joint military exercise.
He and 3 fellow anglers witnessed a round object bright blue in colour dropped down from the sky like a flare and enter the sea. They up anchor and sailed towards the area as they thought a plane may have gone down. As they got closer to the area an object of enormous size rose out of the water and shot straight up. It was saucer shape, 20 feet thick flat-ish, It was reflective and very very bright and vanished in seconds.
Mr. B informed me he was informed a US ship in the area had the object and their fishing boat on radar at the time: Mr. B said he meet the ships captain some years later by a strange coincidence."
1965-5-24 - "At 12:05 a.m. a metallic domed saucer, jet black on top, with three triangular legs and a bank of floodlights around the main body was seen hovering and on the ground in Eton Ridge, Queensland, Australia by three men named Tilse, Burgess, and Juden. The object was 20-30 feet in diameter, 15 feet in height, and was at a minimum distance of 300 meters away. It made a buzzing or hissing sound, and made several maneuvers before it sped away. A circle 20 feet in diameter, consisting of a 3 foot 2 inch wide ring of flattened grass, was found at the landing site the next morning. 1965-7-19 At 5:30 p.m. in Vaucluse Beach, New South Wales, Australia a seven meter domed disc was seen resting on a sandy beach. When Mr. Crowe, the witness, approached to within 16 meters (53 feet) it rose with a rushing air noise like air being released from a balloon. There were ground marks left in the sand, and a check of radioactivity showed it was higher than the normal background level. 1966-6-23 Four adults in Menindee, New South Wales, Australia heard a splash at noon from a nearby lake. No object was visible on the lake surface, but a UFO was seen climbing from the lake diagonally, then "disappeared in seconds." (Source: Ivan T. Sanderson, Invisible Residents, p. 228, citing Broken Hill, (N.S.W.) Barrier Truth, June 23, 1966).
1968-12-28 - The witness had been in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia the area back in 1950 and at that time had experienced a peculiar incident, which left him with a scar. He returned to the site in December 1968 and saw a disc-shaped craft 40 feet in diameter and 10 feet high, and met its human looking occupant, who walked around the side of the object. The man had long hair, stood about 5' 6" tall, and wore silver colored shoes. The witness spoke with him in English for about three minutes, learning that the UFO occupant claimed to be from Saturn. The man seemed to be in a hurry to get away. He boarded, after which the craft rose off the ground and hovered momentarily at 15 feet before moving off and disappearing in the distance. 1969-4-20 - At 7:30 p.m. at a farm on Harwood Island, New South Wales, Australia a 25-foot diameter hat-shaped disc flew low over the sugar cane crop. It emitted a strong beam of light that swept the ground for 360 degrees. (Source: Bill Chalker, The Oz Files, p. 125).

1971-4-24 - Mrs. F, a woman from Greenacre, New South Wales, Australia and her 13-year-old daughter were going home by taxi at 7:30 p.m. On passing Roberts Park they saw an object hovering over the lighted field where youths were playing football. The field lights formed a kind of "ceiling" over the field and is unlikely that had they looked up, the players could have seen anything. The object was "football shaped", the interior light being "the brightest blue imaginable." The top portion of the UFO was transparent and the bottom was a greenish metallic "like gun metal" color with three large transparent portholes. The object was tilted downward at an angle revealing three tall humanoid figures, over six feet tall, in the transparent upper half of the UFO. One of the occupants pointed down at the witness and then turned toward a rectangular, lighted area. Mrs F. asked the cabbie, a Greek immigrant, to stop the taxi, but he accelerated away and drove them straight to her home without stopping. He left in a frightened state without collecting his fare. 1971-12-14 - Yates and Schiller in Waikerie, South Australia saw a six-foot tall humanoid with a "lumpy" body and surrounded by an aura of light float through some trees, 20 meters away. The creature had large pointed ears, a nose like a dog, and no eyes or mouth that were visible. This happened at 11 o'clock at night. (Source: Keith Basterfield, case investigation files #S037).
